For tax purpose, I added fresh capital into my self-direct RRSP account for the year of 2014 and purchased some dividend growth U.S stocks to diversify my stock holdings.
I am not a big fan of RRSP, but for my knowledge RRSP is the only effective way for Canadians to buy U.S dividend stocks without having haircut of 15% withholding on the dividends.
As a Canadian investor, it a difficult time to buy U.S stocks because of sky flying stock market and U.S dollar; however, I managed to transfer some money into U.S accounts and accumulated some high quality dividend growth stocks for long-term.
Without further due, here is my recent portfolio changes:
Purchase I made in February 2014:
- 15 shares of AT&T Inc.(NYSE:T) at U.S $34.63
- 12 shares of Dr Pepper Snapple Group Inc.(NYSE:DPS) at U.S $76.83
- 22 shares of General Electric Company (NYSE:GE) at U.S $25.08
- 15 shares of Kinder Morgan Inc (NYSE:KMI) at U.S $41.97
- 11 shares of Norfolk Southern Corp.(NYSE:NSC) at U.S $109.86
- 16 shares of Omega Healthcare Investors Inc (NYSE:OHI) at U.S $40.72
- 10 shares of PepsiCo, Inc.(NYSE:PEP) at U.S $99.15
- 10 shares of Procter & Gamble Co (NYSE:PG) at U.S $85.56
- 12 shares of The Coca-Cola Co (NYSE:KO) at U.S $41.95
- 15 shares of Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ) at U.S $49.18
- 1 share of iShares Dow Jones EPAC Sel Div Ind (ETF) (NYSEARCA:IDV) at U.S $33.70
Also, I purchased a Canadian bank stock in my Canadian Dividend portfolio when it was hit hard by negative news about the Canadian housing markets and oil industries.
- 25 shares of Toronto-Dominion Bank (TSE:TD) at $50.85, and
- reinvested some distribution in my TFSA and purchased 4 XTR ETF at $12.00
These recent purchases add $317 to my projected yearly passive dividend income based on their current distribution rate.
I will soon update my dividend portfolios pages with theses changes

Thanks for sharing your recent update with us. Been busy with lots of buys I see. Many great names. Like the Canadian bank play too. I have been adding to my TD, BNS and RY for several months averaging my buy price down.

Thank you DivHut for stopping by,
Canadian banks are doing really well for last couple of decades. They are highly regulated banks and pretty safe on my view.
Cheers,

Thank you for posting your portfolio update on the website. It is an encouragement to see some one else try to get finance independent.
I just have a question, you did so many trade a month, which online broker do you use? That will create a lot of trading fee.
