My dividend portfolio has been through tough times due to rising interest rates and a potential recession.
This is not the first time I have been facing a difficult situation. It is the fourth significant pullback in my investment journey.
The first one was in 2015 during the oil crash. My portfolio value was small by the time.
The second one was in late 2018. The third one was in the spring of 2020 due to the pandemic.
Now we have been facing a 2022 crash. I believe this is the longest one.
I usually purchase high-quality dividend stocks when they take a hit – buy the dip guy.
They usually bounce back within a few months.
But, so far, my strategy didn’t work this time. Stocks kept on falling after I made purchases.
Again, I purchased a bunch of them in September to average down my previous recent purchases, but they keep falling.
I am an income investor. My focus is to build dividend portfolios with high-quality dividend growth stocks.
I am okay with a down market to some extent, but, to be honest, it is not fun to watch when my portfolios are down by a couple of thousand dollars in a single day and almost every day.
I am not exactly sure how long it is going to continue. I believe the stock market may rebound from October as Q4 earning sessions kick in.
I received almost $1300 dividend income in August, which is 36.13% higher than the dividend I received in August 2021 – a year ago.
This income keeps rising regardless of what is happening in the stock market.
Let’s discuss how much dividend I received in August 2022.
I received $1291.95 dividends in August, which is 36.13% higher than last year’s same period. The improvement due to the new purchases and dividend growth over the previous year.
