My dividend income keeps rolling in regardless of stock market performance.
I received over $400 dividend in February 2018. Regular readers know that February, May, August and November are my lowest dividend income months. But things are getting improved as I passed $400 mark in those periods.
The income stream is pure passive as I don’t need to move a needle to get these incomes flow into my bank accounts. All I did was invested my hard earned money into dividend growth stocks, and collecting growing dividend from them.
Also, it is growing in a faster pace than ever with the dividend hikes, dividend reinvestments and with new capital from my savings. Therefore, I will receive even higher dividend income next year.
If I could continue this for next couple of years, then in one day, I can easily substitute my day-job salary with my dividend income. It will be my dream day, and I have a stronger believe that I will reach to the point in the coming years.
It doesn’t mean I hate my job. Actually, I love to do so many things in my life, but I couldn’t do them all with my limited time. Time is one of the limited resources we have. We all have only 24 hours per day in our life – regardless of our status.
Majority of us trade our time for little money and make someone else rich. In my situation, I spend over 10 hours a day for my job, including commute. It is about 2/3 of my available time after my sleeping hours. I feel like what is the point of doing this for my entire life?
Therefore, things should be changed. Everything is in our hands and in our mindset. If you are not interested in your work, then you would need to create a plan to exit and live the life you wanted to life.
I’ve already developed my plan, and have been making progress every single month to exit this lifestyle.
Once I reach financial independence, I will reward myself for few months with vacations and then start doing something in my interested field that makes me happy and help my family, friends and people around the world without expecting anything back from them.
I’ve already started visualize my future version. Hopefully, I will reach their sooner.
If you love your day-job, then it is fine. But, there are so many people around the world don’t like their job, but they have to go every single day to meet their end needs. If you are one of them, I think you should try to work towards financial independence. It doesn’t mean you immediately start investing in dividend stocks like me. It means you should start looking for the way to reach your dream of financial independence, educate yourself by reading good books and websites, and create a plan that fit your needs, risk tolerance and financial situations and implement it to achieve your dream life.

Love the progress man. My energy stocks have been taking a hit recently and I’m not too sure when the dip will stop. I am still confident with the great dividends being paid by these blue-chip energy stocks, the long-term results will surpass the short term grief. Keep it up. Your blog is an inspiration.

Hello Eric,
Thank you for stopping by
My energy holdings (pipeline and utilities sectors) took hit as well, but my dividend keeps rolling in. Therefore, we are paid to wait for recovery 🙂
Best Regards,
