It is the time to update my last month dividend income. I hope this report helps me to track my progress toward my short-term and long-term goals, and provides inspiration to new investors (you and me as well) to start dividend investing to reach their financial freedom.
I received $301.08 dividend income in October 2014 which is 25.27% higher than the dividend income I received in October 2013.
Summing up all the dividends I received throughout the year, I came up with $2985.48. One of my short-term goals is to receive $3500 dividend income during the year of 2014. So far, I achieved 85.30% of the goal. Hopefully, I will exceed this goal because there are some nice dividend increases ahead in my portfolio.

Hi,
How are you? I am a dividend investor as well. Could you email me the exact way you follow to buy stocks by borrowing money.
I have a line of credit for $10000 @ 2.49% for 18 months….I want to see what is your methodology on borrowed money?
Thank you and all the best, waiting for your reply.

Hi Gokul,
First, you must understand that the leverage investing is very risky. You may end up with huge lose if you make any wrong decision.
This is what I do:
1. I look for high quality blue-chip dividend growth stocks with attractive valuation that yield little more than the borrowing cost – high quality blue-chip companies considered as ‘safe’ because they have survived several market crashes and challenges over the courses of their life.
2. Do some math and create a goal/plan to pay down the borrowed money at the end of the promotion period, otherwise, we will end up with lose
3. Buy those quality stocks in different sectors, hold it for long-term and collect growing dividends and enjoy the capital gains.
4. Pay the minimum payment on-time and pay down the debts using the dividend incomes. Also, the interest payments are tax deductible as they used for investment purpose – please note you will need to maintain the proper documents to proof you are asked Revenue agency.
If you maintain a good credit history, you will easily get the low interest promotion rate for another period. Currently, I am able to borrow money for as low as 0.99% rate for 16 months.
Please note take this as an information, should not be considered as professional advise. Do you own research before take action.
All the best and let us know how you are doing with your investments.
Cheers,

You had a great dividend income for October. To achieve $25k in 10 years would be a great achievement. We share many similar stocks but I suppose that’s not a surprise. What’s your thought on holding Cineplex? I couldn’t get myself to pull the trigger.

Thank you Tawcan for stopping by.
Your portfolio has generated more $600 in October. You had a great month as well.
I guess $25K in 10 years is not difficult for dividend growth investors. All we need to save, invest in high quality stocks and reinvest the dividends.
I bought Cineplex when it was trading around $29, and holding since then. It gained a lot in last 2 years. It is a cash machine and paying monthly dividends. I am planning to add more in coming months.
Cheers,

Thanks for sharing your recent dividend income with us. You have a very nice total for the month of October as well bringing in $300. I was excited to receive my first BNS dividend in October as well as I added in recent months TD, BNS and RY to my ROTH account. Look forward to your next update.

Thank you DivHut for stopping by,
It is truly amazing feeling when increasing passive income flow into my accounts. $300 is real and tangible money 🙂
I am so glad that you diversify your hold by adding more Canadian banks. They are very solid long run players.

Wow 25k in 10 years! That will require a significant amount of work! Looks like you are slowly but surely moving in the right direction! I had a good October due to the volatility. I would love to have some more! And not just in the oil sector!
Keep it up!
Take care!

Thank you ILG for stopping by,
I reached around 15% of my 25K goal. I hope I can hit the goal bit earlier than 10 years.
I had a good October as well. I was able to purchase some quality companies at bargain price.
Happy investing!
