I received a record high of over $985 dividend income from 44 different companies and ETFs.
I am very closed to $1K dividend income per month. Hopefully, I will hit the magic number of $1000 per month by end of this year.
I have been keep breaking my own records dividend income every quarter, and these income streams growing faster and faster.
This is called ‘compounding growth’. Super rich people use this strategy to grow their wealth. This is why ‘rich get richer’.
I started my wealth building journey in 2012 with very little money and reached this level in little over 5 years.
In another 5 years, I will be in much better position than today.
Every one you have different financial goals, risk tolerance and financial situations. Therefore, your goal and plan will be different than mine.
But, most of you want to be financial independent. In other word, you don’t want to rely on your day job to meet your financial needs.
If you are one of the persons, you should set a clear financial goal and create your own financial plan and start moving forward to reach your goal.
Let’s get back to discuss about dividend income generated from my investments assets.
Regular readers know that I receive higher dividend payments in the month of March, June, September and December.
I received $988.31 dividend income in September 2017, which is 14.08% higher than the income I received in September 2016, which was $866.32.
Summing up all the dividends I received in 2017, I came up with $5840.30. One of my short-term financial goals is to receive at least $8000 dividend income during the year of 2017. So far, I’ve achieved 73.0% of the goal.
As I always tell you (readers), I am trying to inspire you by showing my small achievements to start your own journey to reach your financial freedom. It is not a rocket science. If I can do with my middle-class income, then you can do it too.

Congrats on your dividend. Time and patience work wonder for compound growth.
Just curious if you have a strategy around the number of holdings you have … Will you grow it more? Consolidate? Only add to existing holdings? Do you have a maximum % to hold in a holding?
It seems a lot for the size of the portfolio.

Hello DE,
Thank you for stopping by,
Currently I have no strategy for the number of holdings, but I am planning to have around 100 to 110 dividend growth stocks in the future, among around 40 from Canada and 40 from U.S and rest them from developed market outside of North America.
Also, I aim to have single hold maximum of 5%; however, some of the stocks in my portfolio have grown over 5% (BIP.UN, CNR etc), but I am not planning to reduce them. Meantime I will be adding other positions which bring down these %.
Cheers,
