I received an almost $1500 dividend in September 2020.
This is the highest dividend I received in a single month. I hope my December income will be higher as I have been keeping reinvesting dividends and buying new shares. Some companies in my portfolio have increased their dividend recently.
The stock markets have been volatile for the last couple of days, creating opportunities for dividend investors to buy many high-quality stocks at a discounted price.
It is a hard time for investors, especially dividend investors. There are so many uncertainties surrounding the economies of the world.
And many businesses have been struggling to make money.
However, I believe the current health issue is temporary. We will get back to our everyday life once we have proper treatments and vaccines. Many think we’re just a few months away to access them.
A few years from now, we all forget about today’s scenarios and discuss something else, and the stock markets will be reacting to a new issue at the time. The stock markets have seen many crises like this in the past—some of them are more significant.
Currently, I am interested in buying REITs. REITs are one of the hard-hitting sectors in the market. They have a hard time collecting rents from their tenants because businesses closed their doors, and many of them running with low revenue.
REITs are representing less than 10% of my portfolio. I have been planning to increase its position to 12%.
There are so many negative news surrounding REITs now, such as the work-from-home theme, people are leaving big cities, online shopping, etc. However, some of them are overblown, and prices are already set into the units.
I could be wrong. I may be underestimating the situation. But, I just wanted to take some risks for big rewards.
Let’s discuss how much dividend I received in September 2020.
I received $1494.40 dividend in September 2020, which is 21.78% increase from the dividend I received in September 2019.
Summing up all the dividends I received in 2020, I came up with $8736.84. One of my short-term goals is to receive at least $13000 dividend income during the year of 2020. So far, I achieved 67.20% of my target.
