I always like to celebrate successes whether it is small or big. Let’s celebrate my new financially successes.
Monday, August 25, 2014 was a best day for me as my stock portfolio hit 6 figures (100K) first time. Recently, I did not make any major purchase using my own money. The portfolio gains are pure organic. Many thanks to restless rally of Canadian stock market and TimHortants – Burger King deal.
Personally I don’t like Burger King and I had a really bad experience with them. When I was studying at University, group of 9 students (including me) had food position after had a lunch at Burger King near our University. That was the last day I went to Burger King.
But, I love TimHortants. I and my wife travel a lot and we usually buy coffees and snakes there. We love them. They are everywhere in Canada, and have really good products at affordable price. Many of my friends are addicted to TimHortants coffee. A great company to own for capital gain and dividend growth.
I bought 50 TimHortants shares in 2012 when it was trading around $47 and gained almost 90% till now – dividends are not calculated. I am still holding the shares and waiting for the next announcement.
Whenever I visit Timms, I feel like I am the owner of the company 😀 and the employees are my workers. I may not feel the same once the deal is actioned, but I will receive $65.50 in cash and 0.8025 common shares of the new company per Tim Hortons share.
Also, S&P 500 crossed 2000 first time on August 25, 2014, I was at Google & Yahoo finance page to witness this historical event.
Stock markets are keep setting records every day, but many financial gurus are still predicting about major correction, and some changed their tones and started to talk about new records. The real true is nobody can predict the future market movement, but dividends.
As a dividend investor, I will be collecting dividends regardless market ups and downs.

Six figures for an income portfolio is a great milestone. Keep up the good savings and dividend investing. THI has been very hot the past week or so. I know many Americans and Canadians aren’t sure how this mix will be better food quality wise. I know there is a lot of pride that THI is Canadian and many Americans aren’t happy about Burger King leave U.S.A. Time will tell if this was genius or not.

Thank you DivHut for taking the time to comment.
THI and Burger king leave uncertainty for investors. I didn’t want to take risk by holding them, so I sold my THI shares last week.
Best Regards,
