Some readers requested me to post a summary of my investment portfolios and holdings at the end of each year. So, I decided to put all my financial details in one page. This makes easy for me to see my achievements and failures, so I could improve myself in the following years.
At the end of the page, I have posted all my investment holdings as of December 2016 as per a reader request.
Now letβs see what happened last year (2016) in each area.
Estimated Passive Income
My estimated passive income increased from $6065 to $7063 in 2016, which is $998 or 16.45% increased from 2015 estimated income.
The increased mostly from dividend reinvestment, dividend growth and new purchases using debts and savings.
I am aiming to increase this number to $8400 by end of 2017.
Online income
I made around $3000 through this blog in 2016. Most of the income via advertisements (Google Adsense) and affiliate links (Amazon, Bluehost, etc). Checkout more details here..
It is an average of $250 per month.
This online income stream is growing slowly and steadily along with number of readership. This is a little gift from site readers for inspiring and sharing my information for free.
For possible tax and other benefits, I have incorporated this site under the Canada Business Corporations Act.
Total dividend income
My total dividend income increased from $4955 in 2015 to $7049 in 2016, increment of 42.26%.
Debt level
My personal debt load has increased from $318 100 to $323 400 in the year 2016. It is $5300 or 1.67% increased.
My debt load was peaked at $336 300 in August 2016, and went down to $323 400 in December mainly due to the assets sales in November.
Assets value
My assets value has increased from $426 400 to $479 300 in 2016, increment of $52 900 or 12.40% mainly due to the stock market appreciation.
Net worth
My net-worth has increased from $108 300 to $155 900 in 2016, which is increment of $47 600 or 43.95% in a year.
Debt/Assets
As I carry too much debts, this is a good matrix to see how I am improving my financially.
- Debt/Assets by end of 2015 was 0.75
- Debt/Assets by end of 2016 was 0.67
Maintaining a lowest debt/assets value is good for any person or company. So, the above number shows that my financial situation has improved a bit in 2016 :).
Funny that I am thinking myself as a company and evaluating my situation π . Anyways, this is one the good way to check your financial health if you have too much debts in your balance sheet.
I would like to bring down this number to less than 0.5 in few years. This can be done by increasing assets value while maintaining debts or reduce debts load or do both.
Financial goal
I failed to achieve my two financial goals I set for the year 2016. I set a target to reach $175 000 by end of 2016, but I was able to reach only $155 900. The other one, I set a target to receive $7200 dividend income, but I received only $7049.
As a reader request, here are my year-end dividend portfolio holdings:

Even though you feel sorry of $7200, growing your dividend by 46% is still a great number. Keep up the great investing.

Hello DM,
Thank you for stopping by,
We cannot expect same growth as the numbers get bigger and bigger.
Cheers

That is fantastic that you have been able to increase your net worth over 45%! That is huge! You would have to be happy with that for sure.

Hello BHL,
Thank you for your comments,
I wish I could make a similar net worth worth gain (by percentage) once again :). I was targeting for $175K by end of December 2016, but I couldn’t reach there.
Best Regards,
